October Ministry Adventures

Updated: Nov 17

Hello!  It’s Memie here writing on the blog :)

October brought us back to Taiwan to be with two churches for two conferences from October 11th-October 23rd.  Rich first preached at Banner’s three of five Sunday services to kick off our time with them.  Next, our complete Five Stones Impact team (Pastors Luke, a Banner senior pastor, with Mark Spencer, Clem Ferris, and Rich) spoke at Banner Church for the first ever Shepherding the Shepherds Conference; Greg Miller filled out prophetic ministry.  The conference also folded in three evening Healing Crusades.

Pastors from 25 churches were represented, taking in two main session meetings and afternoon workshops, for the three day conference.  The prophetic team ministered concurrently during those times.  Capping off the conference, our team encouraged Banner’s upcoming leaders and senior leaders prophetically.

Banner Church surprised Clem by telling him they had completed translating his book, Stewarding Your Prophetic Word, and asked if he would do some book signing sessions.  Clem felt so blessed when he saw peopled lined up to get his autograph :)

Additionally, this was Mark Spencer’s first introduction to Banner Church and both sides were blessed to have this new connection.  Mark felt the Banner love and hospitality and enjoyed much of Taiwan’s food and people.

One of our previous church members, Davy and Jeanette Barlin also took in the conference.  They had planned a year in advance and enjoyed breakfast with the team at the same hotel and a little bit of pampering.  They had heard so much about Banner over the years and wanted to come see and experience everything Banner style.  Indeed they were fully immersed and blessed.

After blessing Taichung, our team of eight took the fast High Speed Rail (HSR) train (one hour) and Taiwan rail (two hours) to the Pacific Ocean side of Taiwan to Hualien, known to tourists for its relaxed pace and beautiful beaches.  It is the city also most often hit with typhoons.  Pastor JJ and his wife Susan of Mei-Lun Baptist Church was the site of our second conference with the theme of How the Apostolic and Prophetic Work Together in Church Planting.  Mei-Lun is an amazing, thinking out of the box, influential church, reaching out into the community.  The generations are walking together looking to impact Taiwan and beyond.  Our ministry time was similar with a bit more rest time.  Unfortunately Rich got sick with flu like symptoms just before the last conference day.  Thankfully Dr Jeff, one of their pastors, came to the rescue (his specialty is viruses).  Ironically, the last time Rich ministered at Mei Lun, he was struck with sickness as well.  We saw this as warfare and stood in the gap contending for his healing.  God moved and inspired the church forward.  God is so good.  We are so thankful for all the intercession and prayer over the team and our time in Taiwan.

Lastly, one fun addition was that Matthew our son, who has been studying Chinese in Taichung and attending Banner, was able to join us for all of our travels.  We are grateful for Banner’s generosity and Pastor JJ allowing him to be with us as he walks out his church planting calling.

Here are some fun stats:

11 days of ministry

25 churches represented

2000 attendees in person and online

Team: Mark Spencer, Clem Ferris, Luke Huang, Rich Kao, Greg Miller

Teaching meetings: 29

Prophetic sessions: 35

All praise to God!

November is a nice break from travel until the end of the month where we’ll be in Minneapolis for meetings.

I know we talked about 2025 updates, and encouraging "Timothy's", but we’ll hold off until our year end as we are firming up ministry dates and plans.
